ICC is taking a stand on a smoke free campus, there is one question are u for it or against it. I would have to say I am for the smoke free campus. There are more dreadful reasons than they are on good reasons for smoking a cigarette. Any building at ICC prohibited smoking. From the entrance, exits and even window you have to be fifteen feet away to smoke. There are ash containers at every entrance to throw away any smoking materials. If you are inhaling, exhaling, carrying a pipe, cigar, weed, and herbs are considering smoking. You must get rid of any smoking materials before entering the college buildings. If you are caught smoking where it says smoking is prohibited then you will get fine for it. I hate people that smoke by the building they are killing your lungs and there’s by doing that. Every time I walked by a door last year I could smell the smoke in the air and its just plain awful. Do not do it were everyone walks, do it by your car or in your car. People that do smoke they complain they want to stop but they cannot stop because they are addicted to it. They should try to quit or just get help. Every time I smelled smoke it gets my eyes all watery. Everyone is not going to agree on the same answer but they need to start to listen what citizens have to say about smoking and start to think about other people before they start to smoke.

I am for it too! It is so much
ReplyDeletesafer for non-smoker's health!
Also, it might piss people off
enough to get them to quit! :):).
Ah! I also agree with smokers smoking
by cars instead of people! I love
this blog entry!
Although i am against the smoking ban i liked this blog. U make some good points. However, if you rly want to alevate and satisfy both the smokers and the non smokers there is a simple solution. You make a desginated smoking area somewhere in the courtyard preferablly in the back by the wierd looking ICC statue. There arent any MAIN doors there and if you're a non smoker and dont wanna be bothered by the smoke you would avoid that area of the courtyard. Idk but i think that ll work better then what we have now.
ReplyDeleteI do believe that over the bridge is a good spot where everybody who wants to smoke can smoke. I think it was a great idea that they made the ban. Reason for that is because people that don’t like smoke had to smell it every time they walked outside. Maybe it will also help people quit because they have to walk so far to smoke. Those are my opinions on the subject hopefully other people think that too.
ReplyDeleteI think the smoking ban was a good idea on ICC's part. If you want to smoke, that's fine and I have no problem with that. However you have to be considerate of other people around you. Not everyone wants to smell like they just came out of a bowling alley. As to what Monica said, I don't think it will quite make people quit smoking, but we can hope haha.
ReplyDeleteCaitlin, The smoking ban is great for me, because I don't smoke. However, one of my students in another class brought up some great points against the ban. First of all, banning smoking doesn't change the fact that lots of students still smoke. I feel bad for these students who are addicting, and who struggle with overcoming this addiction. I don't think smoking should be convenient, but I know if it isn't an option at all, some people will be very anxious. This doesn't seem to maybe provide them the best chance at learning. I don't know. I can see both sides.
ReplyDeleteGood work.
